Cross Country Information

Cross country races involve fairly large numbers of runners with a wide range of ability. Anyone fit enough to run the distance can compete for the club as an individual or part of a team (ask your coach for advice on your suitability for competing). All athletes must run in Club Vests and must be members of S.A.L. Membership forms available from the Scottish Athletics website.

It is advisable to arrive at races at least one hour before race start time. Races start exactly on time. Warm clothing is essential and a change of clothes for wet weather is a good idea. Races are very rarely cancelled because of adverse weather conditions.

East District League

There are 3 races in this league for 2011/2012.

15th OctoberStirling (University)
20th November Livingston
14th January Broxburn (Broxburn Academy)

FVH pays all entry fees for this league.
At each race each age group obtains points for each runner based on their finishing position. It is important to have full teams in order for the club to do well in the overall league position. Normally in the U11 to U20 Age groups it requires 3 finishers to make a team. Points for all 3 races are added together for each age group to determine the winning clubs in each age group and overall.
Each club has a race number allocated to them at the beginning of the league and all FVH athletes are allocated that number for all 3 races. It is the responsibility of each athlete to obtain a number from the Team Managers or ask your coach. In each race the names of each FVH athlete is recorded in the order they finish and this info is given to the race organiser once the last FVH athlete has finished. The club requires helpers to assist in this task.

Pre-entry District/National Championships

Athletes are entered approx. 2 weeks before the event. It is the responsibility for each athlete to forward their name and entry money in time.
