Scottish National Age Group Championships

Scotstoun 30th -31st July 2011

Athletes from Falkirk Victoria Harriers returned from the National Age Group Championships at Scotstoun with a very impressive haul of medals and records. Between them they claimed 8 Gold, 5 Silver and 6 Bronze medals. Throw in a new Scottish record for Ciaran Wright as well, and it made an excellent weekend for athletes, coaches and parents alike.

U14

The only event for this age group was the Pole Vault where Alana Boggan claimed Silver with a jump of 2.10m

U16

Ciaran Wright continued his brilliant form to take a full set of medals, plus breaking the Scottish Hammer record for the 3rd time this season, with a throw of 63.33m. His Silver came in the Discus 43.91m, and a Bronze in the Shot Put 12.18m. Fraser Baird took the Bronze in the Triple Jump 11.82m and also finished 9th in the Long Jump 5.42m Alison Black won Bronze in the High Jump. All 3 medalists cleared 1.60m with the medals decided on count back. Kirsten McIntee was 13th in the Long Jump 4.43m Club member Claire Anderson was representing Glasgow School of Sport and won Gold in the 100m in 13.07s

U18

Hollie Lister won the Gold in the Triple Jump 10.46m, she added a Bronze in the 300m H in 48.66s Hannah Lawler took the Pole Vault Gold 2.90m Jacqueline Plain claimed a Hammer Silver 48.04m. She stepped up to the U20 competition and finished 4th 45.92m Douglas Paul won the Long Jump Gold 6.44m and also took a Silver in the Triple Jump 13.78m. Douglas also stepped up to the U20 level and won a Bronze 13.30m Dale Colley claimed 800m Gold with a time of 1.56.95, Ben Stevenson, 800m, finished just outside the medals in 2.02.43 Taylor Nimmo Was 4th in the 110m H 16.91 and 5th in the Long Jump 6.00m.

U20

Edmund Reid won Double Gold. A throw of 55.00m took the Hammer and 14.57m won him the Shot Put Myra Perkins back from Team GB duty threw 55.31 to also win the Hammer Fraser Weir won Silver in the High Jump 1.95m Lewis Grant won Bronze in the 400m in 52.19. Euan Martin was 5th in the 800m with a time of 1.59.35 The results are a reflection not only of the athletes, but for all our volunteers who put in so much work behind the scenes. Without this help our athletes could not be so successful.
