Scottish National Championships

Scotstoun 16th & 17th July


Several Falkirk Victoria Harriers athletes had their first taste of National Championships at Scotstoun on the 16th &17th July.

In the Girls U14, 100m Selina Henderson took the silver medal with a fine run of 12.9 sec.

Laura Fegan finished 3rd in her heat to qualify for the semi but just missed out on a final spot, her best time was 14.11sec.

Selina and Laura were again in action for the 200m. Laura again qualified for the semi but again just missed the final. this time Selina went one better and took the Gold with a time of 26.49 sec. Leia Glading comfortably won her 800m heat and went on to claim the Gold in the final with a time of 2.19.20. Selina, Laura and Leia were joined by Kelly Bisset for the 4x100 Relay. The girls produced a brilliant display to take the Gold in a time of 55.25 secs.

In the U16's Relay, the team of Kirsten McIntee, Nicola Milne, Heather Prentice & Sarah McGregor qualified for the final, where, despite a good run the finished 6th with a time of 55.38.

In the Senior Championships Fraser Weir took the Silver in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.90m.

Fiona Matheson also won Silver in the 5k, with the winner only pulling away in the last 300m.

Jacqueline Plain finished 5th in the Women's Hammer with a throw of 47.29.

Gary Smith qualified for the Men's 800m semi but unfortunately drew a very competitive semi to finish 6th in a time of 1.55.86.
