Linlithgow 10K

Sunday 26th September 2010

The final race in the road running championship took place on a bright but slightly chilly day.

After the start just past Linlithgow cross, the route heads west before turning on to the Bo-ness road, loops back past Linlithgow bridge, then turns of to run round the Loch onto a big steep hill just past the 6 K point

As one of our seasoned runners remarked, “even the flat stretches were hilly”.

Nine members turned out to compete with Barry Paterson maintaining his fine form this season to finish first home, followed closely by Tony Devlin overcoming his health problems.

New member John Turnbull followed in an excellent performance, just ahead of Colin Thomson who had shadowed Mark Dunnachie for a good part of the race before gradually pulling away.

Next harrier to finish was John Martin who returned a typically solid performance especially after just returning from injury.

John Denholm finished just further back, being followed by fellow master David Bunyan, who just managed to hold off the rapidly improving Nikki Flynn in a photo finish, with both being given the same time.

This performance from Nikki earned her a prize as the 1st Linlithgow female to finish.

The race finish was at a sun drenched St Michaels Church in its beautiful setting at the loch side with all the competitors being presented with a technical top.
