London Marathon/min-Marathon

Young Falkirk Victoria Harrier, Lucy Mitchell acquitted herself well on her international debut in last weekends Virgin London Mini Marathon.

Following in the footsteps of Olympians and previous winners Mo Farah and Stephanie Twell; Lucy completed the 3 mile course from Old Billingsgate to the famous marathon finish on The Mall in 19 minutes and 15 seconds to finish 54th in the race which included athletes from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and nine regions of England.

Lucy was a member of the Scottish team which finished 4th out of the 12 competing teams.

In the main marathon Barry Paterson led a quartet of Vics home finishing 391st in 2 hours 47 minutes and 57 seconds. Alan McKay was 901st in 2hrs 58 min 27 secs , Stephen Oliver finished with a time of 3hrs 24min 32 secs in 3218th place followed by David Hogarth in his debut to gain 5150th place in a time of 3hrs 38min 53 secs. All excellent performances in the hot conditions.
