National title for young Vics ladies!

Yesterday (21st March) at Rouken Glen, Glasgow our U17 woman's team captured the Scottish Road Race team title!

Competing over a testing 5k course, Lucy Mitchell had a fantastic race finishing 5th. and carving herself a huge new personal best for the distance. Ably supported by Abby Kemp in 15th and Hazel Murray in 16th (both who also set PB's, the Vics team easily took the title from Kilbarchan with 30 points to spare.

Special mention should also be given to Sarah Hamilton who despite missing out on a team medal, pushed our counters all the way and was an integral part of the team effort.

The girl’s have been running together for five years and this is their first national title. Victory was all the more worthy as each spent most of 2009 sidelined by injury.

In the younger races, Leia Glading and Keely Wilkinson showed that the future of female distance running in the Harriers looks very promising with fabulous performances in 4th and 7th places respectively in the U13 race.

Caitlin Thomson displayed a welcome return to form in the U15 race finishing a credible 26th.
