Graham Clark Memorial 3.9 mile Road Race

Tuesday 7th August 2012

4 Vics in the top 7 !!!

A gorgeous Tuesday provided ideal conditions for the 2012 running of the Graham Clark 3.9 mile Memorial Race. A cloudless sky, with rather less heat than there had been earlier in the day, and the beginnings of a stiff breeze to cool the runners down from their exertions. It was an even more competitive event than usual, as a number of running clubs had put the race on their championships, some for the first time, which meant that runners were competing against their own clubmates as well as the rest of the field.

The two seniors from Falkirk Victoria Harriers, Gary Smith and Barry Paterson, were neck and neck at the end of the first lap, but then Smith pulled ahead and forged a convincing lead over his clubmate to finish in 20:43. Paterson was a close second in 20:57.

Among the veterans, Anthony Devlin of Falkirk Victoria Harriers took the V40+ award in 22:03, with. David Bunyan (also of Falkirk Victoria Harriers) was V60+ winner in 26:02.
