Corstorphine 5 mile Road Race

Wednesday 9th June 2010

On a cold and windy night where vests were for brave people, three Harriers ran in the long established Corstorphine 5 mile race.Vets John Denholm and David Bunyan were joined by Mike McQuaid, taking a diversion from his West of Scotland races.

The race start had been moved from previous years and this meant a distance from the registration resulting in a slight delay to allow everyone to assemble. The downhill start resulted in a fast pace at the beginning, which then settled down with a noticeable gap between the club and fun runners.

Apart from the start, the rest of the course was as in previous years, being undulating with numerous hills spread over the course and also coping gusts at the unsheltered stretches.

Mike was leading Harrier and ran a typically strong race but faded slightly near the finish to be overtaken by a couple of runners to be edged out of the top ten. John and David ran steady races with times comparable to previous years.
