Celtics International

Cardiff 21st February 2010

Over the weekend in Cardiff at the Celtics, 5 FVH Jumpers win 3 Golds, 2 Silvers and a new Indoor U20W Long Jumps Scottish Record.

In the Seniors, Jade Nimmo (U20) broke the Scottish Record to win the Long Jump with a new Indoor PB of 6.2m. She will be hoping to go even further next weekend at the English Championships in Birmingham. Richard Hurren had 3 attempts at the 5.20m mark after winning the Pole Vault at 5m. This would have given him not only the Scottish record but also qualification for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Kim Skinner also won Silver in the female Pole Vault with a clearance of 3.86m. Not to be out done, in the U16 Competition Douglas Paul (U17) won the High Jump with a clearance of 1.83m Equalling his PB for the 3rd time in as many weeks. He went very close to breaking the record (1.84m) with 3 very good attempts at 1.85m, but clipping the bar with his heals at each attempt. Ella Gibbons (U17) won the Silver in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.21m on the last jump of the competition. Both Douglas and Ella were competing at this level for the first time so well done.
