Buchlyvie 10k

Saturday 2nd February 2011

The Buchlyvie 10k is usually ran in January, however due to the bad weather over the winter, the race was postponed to Sat 2nd April, allowing runners to get a spring 10k under their belts.

The route is an out and back course, with the first and last kilometre on road  The majority of the route takes in a dismantled railway line that heads out towards Aberfoyle. Under foot conditions on the trail sections were not conducive to fast running, due to the Forestry Commission hard packing the route with aggregate due to extensive felling in the area, however the runners found a route through the hard pack stones to the turning point, before returning up the same trail for home.  The spring time sunshine was out for the runners however the winds were brisk, adding another element for the runners to battle against.

After the run, all competitors received a goody bag, and gathered in the hall for teas and coffee's.

This is a nice local event that certainly gives the runners a good challenge, and then rewards them with food and drink afterwards.  Definitely one for the calendar in 2012.
