Seven Hills of Edinburgh race

21st June 2009

Three Harrier's Christine Eadie, Elaine Thomson and Mark Dunnachie competed in the 7 Hills of Edinburgh race a truly unique fixture in the road race calendar where as the race title implies you have to run up to the top of 7 hills.

One of those who braved this experiance Christine Eadie, submitted this report:

In this the 30th anniversary year of the race, there was a record turn out of competitors. The weather was hot and sunny, but with just enough of a breeze and plenty of shelter on the route for it not to be a problem. Three harriers took part this year, Mark in the Race and Elaine and myself in the Challenge. Mark very bravely tackled the course without being too sure of the route, and apart from finding himself going up the steep side of Arthur's seat, had no problems at all. Elaine and I were just there to enjoy the scenery and take in the views, which were spectacular.

Unfortunately, although Mark managed to find his way round the 7 hills route, he was rather let down by the Satnav on the way home, and an extensive tour of the streets of Edinburgh meant he nearly took longer to drive home than it took him to finish the race.
