Myra Perkins IAAF World Youth Championships Day 2

This is an update from yesterday's report:

Following their success on day one of the IAAF World Youth Championships (Sudtirol, Italy; 6th-12th July), the GB & NI experience is over – for now - for the two remainining Scots Greg Louden (Lasswade AAC) and Myra Perkins (Falkirk Victoria Harriers).

Scottish senior championships silver medallist Perkins - who finished third in the Aviva England Athletics Under-20 Championships a fortnight ago - was only 63cm short of her lifetime best when qualifying in third from pool B with her first throw of the competition (54.36m) on the opening day.

She went into yesterday’s final as fourth best qualifier but failed to emulate her early form in the final, her best effort of 52.44m not good enough for her to be in contention. She finished in ninth.
