Corstorphine 5 10th June 2009
On the overcast evening of Wednesday 10th June, five Victoria Harriers turned up to compete in the Corstorphine 5 (A five mile road race).
This is a report from one of them, David Bunyan:
Another extreme male veteran and I had competed in the race the previous year and had found it to be a well organised and friendly event.
The course is undulating with some flat straights so Personal Bests were not expected. The race starts with a long fast straight heading towards the Airport then turning east towards Barnton with some ups and downs to the half way mark.
With the temperature decreasing and the sweating increasing, a welcoming sight was the final straight and with good encouragement from the spectators on the corner just a final kick to the finish was required.
With finishing the 4th Harrier out of 5 the after race eats supplied by the host club Corstorphine had been considerable reduced by Barry, Dave and John by the time I finished.
On reflection everybody was happy with their times, organisation was good and friendly so a return next year is on the calendar.
Positions and Times:
Barry Paterson 19th Time 29.13
Dave Robertson 45th Time 32.29
John Denholm 59th Time 33.33
David Bunyan 72nd Time 35.14
